In the event you’ve lost your dog or cat and you’ve printed and put up flyers, put an ad in all the newspapers, and listed it on as many web sites as your browser can find, we now recommend you visit your shelters. If someone has found your pet, the chances are they turned it into a shelter. Search as many shelters as surrounds and controls your area. Visit them frequently - as many as three times a week. Become acquainted and be respectful of the shelter staff. Their job is not an easy one. Enlist their help in searching all impounded animals including those who may be injured or deceased. Contact the shelter to confirm their hours of operation. Be aware that not all shelters are on the same schedule or run by the same agency. N. Charlie Canyon Rd. Hours: To reach the shelter while the road is under repair, Exit the 5 freeway at Hasley Canyon Rd. Turn left and take The Old Rd south to Biscailuz Dr. and make a left (follow the detour signs). This takes you to Wayside Honor Ranch. Explain to the guard that you are going to the Los Angeles County Animal Shelter. You will be directed to the shelter through Wayside Honor Ranch grounds. Note: access to the animal shelter through Wayside Honor Ranch is only available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday. There is no public access to the animal shelter on Sunday.
